As announced earlier this month, Google Chrome is taking steps toward a more secure web and a safer browsing experience. Starting in October 2017, Chrome (version 62) will begin marking HTTP pages with text input fields as ‘Not Secure’. Additionally, the warning will also display on all HTTP pages in Incognito mode. In subsequent releases, Chrome will eventually display a warning on all pages served over HTTP.
Cognito Forms already uses SSL encryption, and is always accessed over HTTPS 100% of the time for all users. However, if your website is still hosted over HTTP, there are two ways to ensure that your page does not display a warning when you embed your forms:
1) Migrate to HTTPS
The best way to avoid warnings on your webpage is to serve your content over HTTPS. Obtaining an SSL certificate can be easy and inexpensive with resources like Let’s Encrypt.
2) Iframe embed
If you cannot obtain an SSL certificate just yet, your next best option is to use your form’s Iframe embed code, which is found on the Publish page in the form builder.
The Iframe option is still fully responsive, and should prevent Chrome from displaying a warning for the time being.
