Cognito Forms supports the localization of all of our forms, including more than 20 languages and 121 countries for dates and times.
When you register for a Cognito Forms account, we use your IP address to determine which country you are in, and your forms are defaulted to the official language and currency of that country. If we do not support the official language of your selected country, it will default to English.
We also attempt to determine your time zone based on information we get from your browser. If we cannot determine your time zone, it will be set to Universal Time Code (UTC).
What do these settings affect?
The language and currency settings will affect what appears on the form. All field labels, error messages and other fixed text will appear in the set language of your form, and any monetary amounts will be displayed in the set currency. Dates will also appear in the standard format of that country, whether DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY.
The time zone ensures that you see activity in your exported and emailed entries as if they occurred in your own time zone.

Changing location settings for your account or organization
Every account has at least one organization. Settings can be different for each additional organization.
The settings determined when you register a new account or add a new organization will be the default settings for each new form created under that organization.
To update your organization’s location settings:
- Select your organization’s name in the top left corner and then select Settings.
- Find Default Location in the left-hand navigation and select the Edit button.
- Select the correct country, language, currency and time zone for your organization from the drop down menus. Any changes to your organization’s default location settings will not affect any previously saved forms.
Changing location settings for a specific form
If entries have already been received for a form, you will not be able to modify the location settings. A new form will need to be created with the changed settings.
When creating or editing a form, you can set specific country, language, currency and time zone settings that will not affect your organization-level defaults.
Click on your form’s title to see the Form Settings, where you can set all of your location settings at once from the drop down menus. The initial choices will default to the organization-level settings.
